More To Do Before the Wedding Day

5. Gift Registry

  • Register for everyday living items at hardware, home supply or furniture stores, in addition to traditional bridal registry gifts.
  • Choose several different stores and locations so that your guests have a variety to choose from.
  • Register before your invitations are sent out or the first shower is given.
  • Register for a variety of different priced gifts to give your guests many options.
  • Registry is also available at travel agencies (towards your honeymoon) and mortgage companies (toward a down payment on your future home).

6. Honeymoon Essentials
  • Book with a travel agent
  • Pack/Remember:  emergency medical and contact information, airline tickets, map, passports or visas, camera and extra film in a protective pouch, traveler's checks, credit cards, clock radio, medicines and prescriptions, sanitary needs, blow dryer, travel iron, sewing kit, glasses or contacts, swimsuit and sunscreen, electrical plug adapters.

7. Hair/Tanning/Makeup/Nails

  • Hairstyles:  work with your hairdresser prior to your wedding to achieve the look you want, especially if it differs from your normal hairstyle. It is also important to take along your veil or headpiece when you visit your hair stylist. Haircuts should be about 2 weeks prior to the wedding to avoid the "fresh haircut" look.
  • Tanning: Avoid tanning within two weeks before the wedding - burns and peeling skin are not flattering in photos.
  • Makeup:  enhance your natural beauty, don't hide it. Try not to look overly made-up. You might want to consider speaking with a professional beauty consultant to determine which colors and application methods are best for you.
  • Nails:  Your nails are often the center of attention during your special day. It may be necessary for you to have artificial nail tips or acrylic nails put on. If this is something you'd like to do, schedule an appointment about 10 days prior to the wedding day and then a touch-up the day before your wedding. A pedicure may also be appropriate if you're wearing open-toed shoes. Since many photographers take close-up photos of your ring on your hand, it is a great idea for the groom to also have a manicure and hand treatment shortly before the wedding.
